tangible goals + solution based + Connecting community
I want to prioritize essential city services, provide tangible goals to measure progress, bring open access for District 3 residents, and help amplify voices block by block.
public safety and First Responders
A safe community is my number one priority. It impacts our day-to-day lives. From our transit, grocery stores, side-walks and public spaces, our goal should be to have a baseline level of public safety.
Reduce response times for all priority calls.
Address and Increase our Fire Department, EMT, Police Department and CARE team staffing.
Increase Health One funding and treatment resources.
Expand community resource officers.
Implement a co-responder model to ensure the appropriate response to each situation.
Improve access to mental health services and crisis response.
Prioritize police accountability, upholding high standards, and providing transparent oversight.
Gun Violence prevention programs, models, and disruptions.
Response to Homelessness
More than 13,000 of our neighbors are living unsheltered or in housing instability. The solutions to effectively address this crisis need to be robust, multi-pronged, and regional. If elected, I will work to:
Get everyone inside and off the street by creating more emergency shelter options.
Create a system to track progress, improve efficiency and provide transparency.
Increase the number of tiny homes, shelters, day centers, transitional and supportive housing units and family shelters.
Expand designated RV and car parking lots with utilities, sanitation and security.
Centralize a hub to navigate all resources for people experiencing homelessness.
Improve public safety for communities living in the encampments.
Housing Affordability
Our city is expensive and only getting more unaffordable. I believe the biggest contributor is the lack of housing at every level. If elected, I will work to:
Streamline the housing permitting process with the Seattle Department of Construction + Inspection.
Incentivize the building of family housing.
Expand affordable housing options, including workforce & social housing.
Invest in Middle housing options, including duplexes, triplexes, ADUs for families aging in place.
Improve family housing options for first-time home buyers.
Maximize the Downtown revitalization for additional housing zoning.
Fentanyl Crisis
Treatment for substance abuse should be accessible, on-demand, and affordable. A diversity of tools and policies need to be designed and implemented to address this public health emergency, aimed at prevention, diversion, intervention, and support. If elected, I will work to:
Align with our state law to enforce the illegal use of fentanyl in public.
Rapidly Increase access to suboxone and methadone.
Connect people to their families for support and care.
Expand mental health services and day centers for resources.
Invest in emergency shelter and housing options for individuals to get everyone inside.
Small Business + Economic Recovery
As a small business owner myself, I understand how hard the past few years have been and how critical small businesses are to our economic recovery. If I elected, I will work to:
Prioritize public safety for our small businesses.
Connect small businesses with our Seattle Department of Transportation and Sound Transit construction to better understand schedules and changes with construction projects.
Partner with the Office of Economic Development to expand access to grants and revitalization efforts.
Engage small businesses in our Downtown recovery efforts.
Invest in lighting, sidewalk accessibility, tree canopy, and art walks.
Improve pedestrianized streets and areas for business access and impact.
Youth Engagement + Enrichment
Our youth are the future. We have to start prioritizing their well-being. I understand how community centers, programs, and activities have strong positive impacts on the lives of youth and families. If elected, I will work to:
Renew and enhance the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise Levy.
Collaborate with the School Board to create housing and development opportunities around schools (Seattle Comp Plan) and to implement joint use agreements for after-school youth programs.
Fund in-school mentorship and gun violence prevention programs.
Support families with affordable childcare, after-school programming, and summer youth camps.
Increase access to apprenticeships and jobs for youth.
Invest in early learning and childhood development, parks, libraries, green spaces, tree canopy and the arts.
Host late-night activities and programs at community centers and non-profits.
Transportation + City Infrastructure
We must ensure that transit options are safe, reliable, and accessible to meet the needs of our rapidly growing city and green future. If elected, I will work to:
Increase options for transit to be interwoven into neighborhoods.
Enhance public safety for all transit systems.
Partner with the City, County and private entities to improve the cleanliness of station hubs and bus stops.
Work with the Seattle Department of Transportation to improve pedestrian safety, sidewalks, crosswalks, potholes + infrastructure investments.
Expand protected bike lanes, connecting pathways for safe transit options.
Ensure lighted sidewalks next to all schools.
Coordinate with Seattle Department of Transportation + King County Metro to identify priorities for bus lanes in main arterials to increase transit times and prioritize busses.
Improve micro-mobility transit options + East to West transit options.
Downtown Recovery
Downtown is the front porch of our city, so it must be engaging and welcoming. Revitalization projects must provide important new opportunities for residents and visitors alike to experience the magic of Seattle. If elected, I will work to:
Prioritize small businesses in recovery efforts.
Enhance public safety in Downtown areas.
Increase art walks, activities, and events in the Downtown area.
Re-zone areas to maximize housing development.
Improve Pike Place Market access for pedestrians.
Connect District 7 to District 3 with Pike + Pine corridor improvements.
Increase lighting, tree canopy and activate areas for commerce.
Expand access to public 24-hour restrooms.
Gun Violence Prevention
Gun violence is preventable, yet it continues to ravage communities across our city and region. I am a champion for bold and community-driven solutions to reduce gun violence, address root causes, and disrupt cycles of violence. If elected, I will work to:
Invest in safe spaces for youth: community centers, libraries, parks and initial programming models.
Advocate at the state and federal levels to strengthen gun laws, such as raising the ages for purchase, requiring permitting and training, and getting more guns off of our streets.
Support lifting preemption laws that prevent Seattle from banning guns in our parks and public spaces.
Ensure that the City and County are partnered to track gunshot data to better design law enforcement and community response, target outreach and engagement, and prevent future tragedy and violence.
Sustainability + climate goals
We’ve experienced an increase in heat and smoke in our region, which threatens the health of our communities. To combat the dangerous and damaging impacts of climate change, a coordinated response from all sectors and residents in Seattle is necessary. If elected, I will work to:
Elevate and prioritize projects that create low carbon footprints and net zero emissions.
Invest in food rescue programs and food access points to help alleviate food waste.
Expand transit, bicycling, and pedestrian infrastructure and services.
Build out charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Improve electrification for our city fleet.
Reduce municipal building energy and improve green efficiency.
Increase incentives for residential homes to convert to solar energy options.
Protect green spaces and tree canopy, improving how we take care of newly planted trees.
Arts + Culture
Seattle sits at the intersection of community, culture, and commerce. To preserve our city’s culture and reactivate the community, we must center investments in arts, culture and entertainment. If elected, I will work to:
Foster social-emotional learning (SEL) opportunities for youth through arts education and programs like the Washington State Teaching Artists Training Lab (TATLAB).
Support Access for All to expand cultural access to arts, science and heritage education for students and families.
Bridge relationships between schools, communities and organizations to improve the funding and administration of arts programming.
Maximize Seattle’s creative economy in downtown revitalization efforts, understanding that arts is an essential part of community building.
Encourage murals and designated spaces for artists, creating Seattle’s own “Wynwood-Miami” neighborhood where culture and art come together.
Invest in housing and commercial Co-ops for artists.
Parks, Libraries, Greenspaces + Community Centers
I am running for City Council to prioritize essential services with funding and policies that affect our day-to-day lives. If elected I will work to:
Support parks + library levies that help fund community spaces and programs.
Enhance public safety at parks and libraries.
Provide mental health access points + resource navigators for guests.
Prioritize intentional programming for our youth.
Fund senior centers + meal programs.
